Rotary of Bangkok fund-raising seminar

It was thrilling to speak at a special evening fund-raising program at the Bangkok Rotary. Four of our Together We Can Change the World presenters put together 15-minute presentations on our thoughts on becoming leaders in a global workplace.

IMG_0580The 150 attendees were generous with their attention and praise. After a networking reception, two of us spoke, then there was another networking beak, and the two others spoke. We were told that usually half the room leaves at the break. No one left.

I spoke on “Authentic Leadership: Benefiting From Strategic Authenticity” and others added their ideas on leadership.

The recipient of the proceeds is one of our favorite TWCCTW projects, the Mee Easin Shin Foundation (MDF) in northern Bangkok run by our dear friend Treasure Shine. MDF provides a school for 50+ children of migrant Burmese families living and working in that area.

We visited MDF a few days after the Rotary program. We played and sang with the kids, saw the meager rooms where the teachers and some of the kids sleep, and took a tour of the nearby impoverished neighborhood where the families live. With the $1000+ raised by the Rotary program and the $1500 TWCCTW donated, Treasure will buy new bedding, pay some teachers’ salaries and augment the educational materials. We are thrilled to support MDF and the amazing services Treasure and her staff are providing.

We look forward to returning in May and working with the Bangkok Rotary and raising more funds for MDF.

(The video from my presentation will be ready soon and I’ll post the link when it is.)
